The road from Fort William to the Spey Valley is fairly straightforward and this tends to be a quieter route to take you north and onto Inverness. The area has recently been granted National Park status and the residents of the Spey Valley are naturally very proud of this particular part of Scotland. This is an area famous for all things Scottish; mountain peaks, rushing rivers, spectacular scenery, every kind of outdoor activity imaginable, friendly people and a great history and heritage that can only be found in the ancient land of Scotland.

You might find a lot of what you see in and around this area is very familiar to you as the hit TV show Monarch of the Glen is largely shot in this area. If you are very lucky and in the area at the right time you never know who may be sitting next to you at dinner.

You can meander through this area at your leisure and take in many of the lovely highland villages and settlements – enjoy great walks, mountain treks, distillery tours, visiting museums, exhibitions or take a steam train trip.

The area is easy to get around and when your ready to leave you can simply pick up the A9 and head for Inverness.
